Saving the cheerleader and the world

Yeah! Finally Heroes is showing on TV3, beginning 2nd Dec 2007, Sundays at 9pm. Its been a really long wait for us here in Malaysia, especially for those without Astro, or people who only caught on to the new almost cult show at the end of its first run on Astro.

Why did I give it an almost cult status? Because its a way cool sci-fi series, but still several notches below The X-Files. No other series can beat Mulder and Scully.

I only managed to watch the series up to Episode 17 on the previous run, so although I don’t know how Season 1 will end, I do know a bit about the series.

Heroes are about, well, heroes. People who seemed to have no connection to each other slowly discovered their amazing abilities. And will all end up in New York for an explosive season finale.

The Heroes

Among them; (SPOILERS AHEAD)

1. a cheerleader, Claire Bennet, with super-healing powers.

Claire would later on become one of the most important characters for Season 1. A character from the future, Hiro, gave a cryptic message to another hero, Peter, to “Save the cheerleader, and save the world”

2. a former hospice nurse, Peter Petrelli, who had dreams of flying, but realized later that he had the ability to absorb other heroes’ powers just by being near them.

3. a candidate for the senate, and Peter’s elder brother, Nathan Petrelli, who first found out he could fly when he flew out from the car he was driving just before a crash that crippled his wife

4. a former worker-bee from Japan, Hiro Nakamura, who could stop time and teleport himself.

5. a geneticist from India, Mohinder Suresh, who went to New York after his father ‘s death and continued his father’s research on the genetic changes of the people with abilities

6. a comic artist, Isaac Mendez, who can paint the future

7. a policeman, Matt Parkman, who can hear other’s thoughts

8. a serial killer, Sylar, who discovered he can steal other heroes’ abilities by slicing their head open

9. an internet stripper, Niki Sanders, who had an alternate personality with superhuman strength named Jessica,

and Noah Bennet, Claire’s adoptive father who worked for a mysterious organization called “The Company”

If they seemed a bit like X-Men to you, yes they do. But, without the spandex suits. And without blue skin. They look perfectly normal, with ordinary lives, but with extraordinary powers.

If you get confused from time to time watching the show, due to Hiro’s trips to the future and back, check out heroeswiki.com But try to refrain from checking out on future episodes. Enjoy the show. And hope that the second season that will be coming soon to Astro will be as good as the first.

Now, I’m off to save the cheerleader and the world… in my dreams. Gnite.

  1. Which Hero’s power(s) would u like to have?

Mine would be Peter’s. It would be great to be able to absorb other people’s powers and use them at will. Without having to slice open their heads like Sylar of course.

  2. Who’s my favourite Hero?

Hiro of course. He’s so funny, and cute and well, being able to stop time and teleport oneself, should save a lot on car oil usage, and therefore help a bit in saving the world from Global Warming ; p
